Welcome to ShareFiles : Fast Files Share (“we,” “our,” or “us”). We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our application operates, how user data is handled, and why specific device permissions are required.
1. Overview & Offline Core Functionality
ShareFiles is a Peer-to-Peer (P2P) local file management and transfer application. The core feature of ShareFiles is enabling users to share files, media, documents, installed applications, and phone contacts between devices offline using direct local Wi-Fi, Personal Hotspot, or Local Area Networks.
We do not collect, store, upload, or process any of your personal files or data on external servers. All file transfers occur strictly offline and directly between the connecting peer devices.
2. Sensitive Permissions and Use Rationale
To provide core file-sharing functionalities, ShareFiles requests access to specific Android permissions. We use these permissions strictly for the functions described below:
A. Package Installation (android.permission.REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES)
- Purpose: ShareFiles allows users to transfer user-installed application files (.apk) to another device.
- Usage: This permission is strictly required to trigger the native Android package installation prompt when a user explicitly chooses to install a received APK file on their device. ShareFiles never installs any application silently or automatically without explicit user action.
B. Contacts Access (android.permission.READ_CONTACTS)
- Purpose: ShareFiles includes an optional feature allowing users to share phonebook contacts.
- Usage: This permission is accessed only when the user explicitly taps the “Contacts” option to select specific phone numbers to share. Chosen contacts are converted locally into standard vCard (.vcf) files for transfer. We do not harvest, store, or transmit your contact list to any remote server.
C. Wi-Fi and Network State (ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_MULTICAST_STATE, WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE)
- Purpose: Local peer discovery and high-speed data streaming.
- Usage: These permissions allow the app to discover nearby receiver devices, establish local TCP socket connections, and keep local transfer services active in the background during active file transfers.
D. Storage Access
- Purpose: Local file reading and writing.
- Usage: Used exclusively to access files chosen by the user for sending and to save received files into the local device storage directory.
3. Advertising (Google AdMob)
ShareFiles integrates Google AdMob to display advertisements (banner and rewarded ads). AdMob may use anonymized device identifiers or advertising IDs strictly to serve relevant ads and measure ad performance in accordance with Google’s Privacy Policy. You can control or opt-out of personalized advertising through your Android device settings.
4. Third-Party Services
Aside from Google AdMob for ad serving, ShareFiles does not share, sell, trade, or rent any personal identification or sensitive data to third parties.
5. Security
Because all file transfers take place over encrypted or direct local socket connections within your local Wi-Fi/Hotspot network, your data does not travel across the public internet, ensuring maximum privacy and security.
6. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
